I got a chance at some of the blossoms on my trees this year. Here's one. What do you think?

Robert, I like the diagonal composition and the colors. The focus is good, but softens as you go up the stem to the buds. I think the light background, especially in the upper left, distracts the eye from the main subject. What kind of blossoms are these?

with Bob, Robert :)
I think you would have a nice shot if you could keep the 5 blossoms in the fg crisp and clear while darkening the remaider of the frame.
Original thought was to crop just above the top blossom but maybe that is a bit severe.

Thanks, Bob and Gaylord. Yes, it was that big blob of white (I think a very OOF tree in bloom) that especially bothered. I tried a color change to a light sky color but kept getting a bizarre line around the edge. Burning helped in the lower areas but I don't know how to deal with the top--except pay better attention to the background when I shoot! Gaylord, my concern with a crop is the effect on composition and with loosing the bits of blue sky and especially the buds as a counterpoint to the open blossoms. And Bob, I'll have to check tomorrow but I think this was either my apricot or some kind of plums that have grown up around it.

Hello Robert, young Bob has covered the main points. in this kind of situation, I would ask someone to help you hold a black card or a black piece of clothing behind the blossom that would save you loads of time in editing.
How lucky that you have these blossoms in your garden and so early as far as we are concerned, lol.

Thank you, Jaffer. Unfortunately, when I get a chance to take some pictures I'm on my own so I can seldom handle a backdrop. This picture was taken near the end of February. I found another from mid-February with a darker background. It downloaded off color; I'll try to post a corrected version. The blooms are nice but to quickly lost to the weather. The almond tree was just in full bloom when we got rain and 40 mph winds. Another storm is due today and tonight--it's already started raining. But there's enough time when one or another tree's in bloom that sometimes the weather cooperates. The cherries are starting to show color and next week is supposed to be nice weather.
